Dr. Rasmussen has a private practice in intellectual property and business law. Dr. Rasmussen teaches Intellectual Property, covering copyright, patent, trademark and trade secret law. His prior experience includes practice as a patent agent and scientific advisor with McDermott Will & Emery LLP and as an associate with Bennett Jones LLP in Calgary. He is a Registered Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Dr. Rasmussen has taught Intellectual Property Law, Patent Law and Trademark Law as well as Health Care Law & Policy at University of Laverne College of Law. Previous to his legal career, Dr. Rasmussen was a research scientist in the departments of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of Saskatchewan, the University of Alberta, and in the Department of Cell Biology at the Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Rasmussen is currently the Executive Director of the Loma Linda Veterans Association for Education and Research.
