St. Francis School of Law is announcing the appointment of Professor James Woodruff II to the faculty. Prof. Woodruff is a graduate of South Texas College of Law and Texas A&M University. He is licensed to practice law in Florida and Texas. Prof. Woodruff served as an intern to the Honorable Justice Don Wittig in the 14th Court of Appeals in Houston.
Prof. Woodruff will be teaching Trusts, Wills and Estates in the St. Francis Juris Doctor program. His law practice experience includes civil litigation, and he also served as Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer of Wells Fargo Bank, where handled trust administration and related litigation. He has also served in the United States Air Force Reserve at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, where he is Assistant Staff Judge Advocate and Reserve Coordinator.
Prof. Woodruff previously taught at Florida Coastal School of Law, where he taught Lawyering Process, Public Speaking, Legal Editing and the Institute of General Practice, and also coached the client counseling competition team.
Prof. Woodruff is the author of How to Conduct Free Legal Research: A System for Getting Actionable and Reliable Results When Conducting Legal Research as well as numerous law review articles including The Prosecution of Piracy Under the Offenses Clause, 2012 CARDOZO L.R., DE NOVO, 278, Freedom of Speech & Election Day: Thou Doth Protest Too Much, 65 MERCER L.R. 331 (2014), and Where the Wild Things Are: the Polling Place, Voter Intimidation, and the First Amendment, 50 LOUISVILLE L.R. 253 (2011).
