Professor Karen Travis has practiced law for more than two decades, working in medical litigation, education law, civil rights, and criminal defense. An accomplished trial attorney, she represents both plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal trials and arbitrations. She is admitted to practice in the state courts in California as well as the U.S. District Court for the Central and Eastern Districts of California.
Travis taught in an ABA-accredited Paralegal Studies program. Earlier, she was a full-time faculty member at another distance-learning law school, serving as the Director of the Academic Success Program and professor of law, teaching several courses including Torts, Contracts, Professional Skills (legal writing), Professional Responsibility, Product Liability Litigation, as well as FYLSE (First Year Law School Examination) Preparation.
Ms. Travis is a full-time faculty member at St. Francis and teaches Torts, Contracts, Criminal Law, Evidence, and Professional Responsibility, as well as FYLSE (First Year Law Students’ Examination) Preparation and California Bar Preparation courses. In addition to teaching, Ms. Travis is the Director of the Academic Excellence Program, providing academic support services.
